Citrus and Gardens
Still trying to figure out citrus trees. I have about ten in the yard, in various stages of being established. Some have been in the ground for three years, some for two, a couple are less than a year. Lemons, limes, oranges of two types. My biggest problem, other than the shortage of hours of full sunlight, is getting the watering down. Either I am over watering or under watering, and it seems that every time I figure out the schedule something comes along to screw it up, like a week of cold dry winds. I suspect that my best strategy is just to check often, take my lumps when I over do it and wait for a few more years until they are all established and a big bigger.
Gardening seems to be an exercise in patience, a trait that does not run strong in my family. Still, it beats having a bare hill behind the house. By the end of the summer I will be done with the landscaping and the back yard will be quite livable.
